UK government agency not accepting eVisas as ID from job applicants
Briefly

The introduction of eVisas, intended to replace traditional biometric residence permits, is struggling to gain acceptance from crucial sectors, including the Security Industry Authority (SIA). Banks and academic institutions have also rejected these as proof of identity, impacting individuals seeking jobs, especially in the security field. The Home Office acknowledged that operational changes are needed before acceptance can occur, while many applicants lack alternative ID. Advocacy groups warn of potential long-term consequences reminiscent of past immigration issues, raising concerns about the system's effectiveness and security.

Changes to Security Industry Authority operational systems are required before eVisas can be accepted as part of the licence application process.
