Trump, DEI and UK technology businesses | Computer Weekly
Briefly

Since Trump's return to presidency, DEI initiatives have faced setbacks in the US. His executive orders suspended federal DEI programs. In contrast, UK organizations reported strong support for DEI, with many planning to increase budgets. Public sentiment favors DEI, highlighted by surveys showing disapproval of Trump's actions and broad backing of flexible working and inclusivity training. The UK’s legal framework, under the Equality Act 2010, provides substantial protections against discrimination, suggesting a more robust commitment to DEI efforts than seen in the US.
So there doesn't appear to be great public support in the UK for a retreat from DEI initiatives; quite the opposite in fact, and the legal landscape in this country in relation to diversity and inclusion issues is also significantly different to the US as a whole.
A recent Ipsos survey found widespread support among the UK public for a range of DEI initiatives such as flexible working arrangements, gender pay gap reporting and inclusivity training.
