Terry Wogan's son hits out at Labour chancellor after late father's 3.75m home fails to sell
"Speaking to TalkTV's Plank Of The Week, Mark Wogan said: "It's interesting how you say [Labour chancellor] Rachel Reeves is killing the housing market - she's killed it already. "You'd think someone would come round, even just out of interest. But no one's come to see it. No one, not one single person. That's how dead the market is.""
"Hitcham House has seven bedrooms and sits on just under three acres in Buckinghamshire, and has a croquet lawn and tennis court, and views of Windsor Castle. "We can't afford to hold on to it at all. The property market has ground to a halt. Nothing is moving. People are desperate to sell their homes because they can't afford their mortgages," Mark added."
"The Tories are blaming Ms Reeves for slowing economic growth by raising taxes by £40bn in last year's budget. The chancellor is currently facing a £20bn to £40bn blackhole in the nation's finances. The cost of the UK government's borrowings have also hit a near 27-year high."
Terry Wogan was a Limerick-born media personality who worked in radio and TV for the BBC and ITV and presented the Eurovision Song Contest. His family home, Hitcham House, passed to his wife and then to his son Mark Wogan, is for sale for £3.75m but has attracted no viewings. Mark Wogan blamed Labour chancellor Rachel Reeves and current economic conditions for a dead property market and inability to hold the estate. The house has seven bedrooms on just under three acres with a croquet lawn and tennis court. The government faces borrowing cost pressures and a reported £20bn–£40bn fiscal gap. Mark also co-owned a London pizza restaurant that entered liquidation owing £2.5m and now hosts a culinary podcast while working in radio.
