"The world is changing very fast right in front of us,"
"We live in a new era in geopolitics, and it's going to require all of us to sort of re-examine what that looks like and what our role is going to be"
Marco Rubio will lead the US delegation to the Munich Security Conference and called the moment a new era in geopolitics, urging reassessment of roles. The conference is the first major global event since President Donald Trump threatened Danish sovereignty with a pledge to annex Greenland. French President Emmanuel Macron said Europe must prepare for greater independence from the US, while NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte emphasized that transatlantic bonds remain close and important. The agenda includes the war in Ukraine, tensions with China, and a possible Iran nuclear deal. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen plans to meet Rubio about US threats to Greenland, and former US NATO ambassadors and commanders have urged continued American support for the alliance.
