After a challenging general election, the Green Party retains leadership with Mr. O'Gorman continuing as party leader and Janet Horner elected as chairwoman. Positioned as the party's only TD, O'Gorman showcases commitment to climate action, family support, and equality. He acknowledges the need to understand the reasons behind their electoral struggles and aims to develop a strategic plan to strengthen their influence. The election process saw unopposed nominations, reflecting a consensus within the party about their leadership direction moving forward.
I'm honoured that the Green Party membership have expressed this confidence in me to continue as leader. Our party had a difficult election last year, but we continue to be a strong voice for climate action, for supporting families and for equality.
We are using the strategic plan process to listen, understand why we lost support in recent elections, and chart how we can rebuild our political strength, so we can continue to push for change.
