Burnley MP Oliver Ryan is the second Labour MP to be expelled over offensive messages from a WhatsApp group. Following an investigation sparked by the Mail on Sunday, Ryan apologized for the inappropriate comments made in the group, including mocking a colleague's sexuality. His case follows Andrew Gwynne's suspension, who also faced backlash for his derogatory comments. Both incidents have raised significant concerns about conduct within the party, leading to resignations of some local officials as well.
Ryan stated, "I did not see every message, but I accept responsibility for not being more proactive in challenging what was said."
Gwynne remarked on social media that he apologized for any offense caused by the "badly misjudged" comments.
