"deeply concerning reports"
"sexualised images of children"
"want any excuse for censorship"
"expedited assessment of available evidence"
Ofcom launched an urgent investigation into X's AI chatbot Grok after reports that the tool was used to create and share undressed images of people and sexualised images of children. The regulator will assess whether X failed to remove illegal content promptly and whether it took appropriate steps to prevent people in the UK from seeing such material. Illegal content under scrutiny includes non-consensual intimate images and child sexual imagery. X responded to Ofcom and an expedited assessment of available evidence was carried out. Potential penalties include fines up to 10% of worldwide revenue or £18 million.
