NHS to expand opt-out HIV and hepatitis testing
Briefly

The NHS is implementing an automatic testing scheme for HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C in nearly 90 Accident and Emergency units across England. Patients will be tested unless they choose to opt out. This initiative, backed by a £27 million government expansion, aims to improve early detection, potentially helping an additional 1,900 individuals per year. Previous expansions led to a significant increase in detected infections, demonstrating the program's effectiveness in reaching individuals who typically do not access sexual health clinics.
