Former police officer Maggie Oliver has launched a campaign named #TheyKnew, aimed at prosecuting MPs who neglect their duty to protect rape gang victims. She claims to have witnessed extensive corruption and cover-ups during her 26 years in law enforcement, asserting that these issues have not been adequately addressed by those in power. Oliver argues that private prosecutions might be necessary, yet she also acknowledges the financial challenges involved. She highlights a particularly glaring institutional failure regarding Operation Augusta, where numerous identified pedophiles were left unaddressed, leading to significant harm to children.
I saw what I believed to have been corruption and cover-ups to an industrial scale.
Repeated governments do not wish to open this can of worms.
Nobody wants to do anything. The country knows there has been a cover-up.
I know from my 15-20 years of experience that evidence exists to suggest those at the top of these institutions covered this up.
