The Ministry of Defence reported that over 10,000 service members are medically not deployable, with 14,350 having limited deployability and 13,522 fully undeliverable.
An MoD spokesperson stated that around 90% of service personnel are deployable, while others not meeting fitness requirements are signposted to medical boards for review.
Former defence minister James Heappey expressed concern over the military’s deployability figures, noting that many of those unfit may simply be awaiting routine checks.
The current state of deployability among UK armed forces illustrates challenges, with all service branches falling short of their target personnel numbers.
