David Lammy filled in for Sir Keir Starmer at the despatch box during Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday 5 November. He was handed a remembrance poppy by Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson and attached it to his jacket midway through the session. He explained that he bought a new suit that morning because his godmother said she would be watching. He thanked the honourable member for Sunderland South for ensuring that, despite wearing a new suit, he managed to put his poppy on. The exchange took place during the parliamentary question session in the House of Commons.
