The Ministry of Defence has reportedly lost track of approximately 95,000 military veterans in the strategic reserve. A former defence secretary stated that officials lack updated contact details for these individuals. While the Ministry maintains contact for the first six years post-service, records for those with longer gaps have not been kept. Recommendations were made to improve engagement with veterans and map their locations and skills. Recent legislation increased the maximum age for military recall from 55 to 65.
