The four women resigned from the national grooming gangs inquiry victims liaison panel and called for safeguarding minister Jess Phillips to resign. They accused Ms Phillips of labelling some claims untrue and said they had provided evidence to the contrary in a letter to the home secretary. Ellie-Ann Reynolds said the final turning point was a push to widen the inquiry remit in ways that downplay racial and religious motivations behind the abuse. Ms Phillips told MPs that allegations of intentional delay, lack of interest or dilution of scope are false. Jim Gamble withdrew as a candidate to chair the inquiry, deepening the probe's turmoil.
