Farmers protested in Westminster against what they termed the government's "cruel" inheritance tax and Labour's decision to pause crucial subsidies. The President of the National Farmers Union criticized this pause, arguing it significantly impacts 50,000 farmers across the UK. Farmer Henry Graham expressed concerns that these moves discourage growth in the sector, warning that the policies may destroy family farms and hinder future operations. He emphasized the need for the government to consider the long-term implications of their decisions on the agricultural industry and countryside.
Our message to the Government is they really need to consider the implications of what they're doing to farming in the UK. Farmers stand defiant against the Met Police and brilliantly arrive to protest in combine harvesters. They are actively destroying family farms, slightly bigger farms and smaller farms - anything to do with agriculture.
All the policies they are bringing in is actively discouraging any form of potential growth, and even trying to stand still, they're going to make it impossible for us to continue farming, and it will change the whole of this UK countryside.
