It promised 100,000 small businesses a 50 percent discount on software worth up to £5,000 each. A total of £295 million was allocated to the project over three years. As UK finance minister in spring 2021 Sunak launched a pandemic-linked program offering discounts to 100,000 small businesses; £295 million was allocated but only seven percent (£31.4m) had been spent by spring 2024. Under a memorandum of understanding starting in November, the Crown Commercial Service expects approximately £9 billion in UK spending over five years.
