Sinead O'Connor, the celebrated Belfast singer, is contemplating a presidential run after Michael D Higgins' term concludes next year. While she has not disclosed which political party has contacted her, she is inclined to run with a party instead of as an Independent. Additionally, O'Connor humorously mentioned the potential influx of dogs at Áras, her dog sanctuary in Dublin. Despite her excitement about this year's Eurovision representation by EMMY with the song Laika Party, she remained realistic about Ireland's chances in the competition, observing strong contenders from other countries.
"I'm saying nothing at all. That's all I'm saying. You'll have to wait and see now. Can you imagine all the dogs in Áras?"
"I wouldn't rate our chances very highly now, being honest with you, and it sounds terrible, but I just wouldn't, because I know what the opinions are coming in from Europe already."
