Prof Rebecca Boden, a former Labour adviser, alleges she faced misogynistic abuse after raising concerns over the Labour party's failure to report significant rental income from the Trades Club in Hebden Bridge. After claiming that the Calderdale branch had not declared the property and its income to the Electoral Commission, she described her experience over the past year as a 'year from hell.' Although the Yorkshire and Humber Labour Party denied knowledge of any misogynistic behavior, Boden contends the party had neglected to report over £300,000 of assets and had evaded tax payment on rental income for two decades.
Prof Boden, who advised the national Labour party on how VAT could be implemented on private school fees, stated, "I can't go out there banging the drum about why private schools should pay VAT and at the same time know that my own party wasn't meeting it."
