Zoe Atkin, the 22-year-old British freeski champion, achieved her first world title at the freeski halfpipe championships in Engadin, Switzerland. After previously earning bronze in 2021 and silver in 2023, Atkin delivered a phenomenal final run, scoring 93.50 points despite a shaky start. Overcoming early difficulties and stiff competition from China's Li Fanghui, who scored 93.00, Atkin expressed immense excitement over her victory. This season, she shared the overall World Cup title with Li, having both performed impressively with multiple podium finishes. Atkin's dedication to mastering a new trick was instrumental in her success.
I feel amazing, I'm world champion. I'm going to celebrate, eat all the Swiss chocolate I have in my bedroom. I'm just so excited.
So to be able to put it down when the pressure was on felt so good, and to come back after I got third at my first world championship and second at my second championship, it just feels so good.
