World-first' gonorrhoea vaccine to be rolled out in England
Briefly

England will implement a world-first gonorrhoea vaccination program using the 4CMenB jab, which is currently employed to prevent meningococcal B disease. With gonorrhoea cases surging to over 85,000 in 2023—the highest since records began—the program aims to protect public health by providing the vaccine through local sexual health services. Eligible patients will be contacted starting August 1, and will additionally receive vaccinations for mpox, HPV, and hepatitis A and B. Experts view this initiative as a critical move in combating increasing antibiotic resistance and promoting sexual health awareness.
