"It was very painful, it felt like you've been hit by a bus,"
"Nothing would prepare you to understand how much pain I was in."
"My bum felt like it was boiling, I felt like I had a fever,"
"The staff saw fluid coming out the incision hole at the top of my bum where the implant was put in,"
"I wouldn't have been worried if I had one bum cheek dragging on the floor. I didn't care at that point, I just wanted to go home,"
Josephina Finch, 38, traveled to Spain in October 2024 for a Brazilian butt lift after researching the procedure for about three years to achieve a curvier, hourglass figure. She experienced intense postoperative pain, waking up screaming and feeling as if she had been hit by a bus. She had to lie on her front, could stand for only one hour daily, developed sores on her elbows, and was scheduled to remain in the clinic for two weeks. Seven days after surgery she became very ill with a burning sensation and fever. Clinic staff observed fluid leaking from the incision and an unhealed scar with a gaping hole, and the implant site was infected. The surgeon removed the implant eight days later after being away and initially proposed washing and replacing it, but she chose to return home. Full recovery took six months before she could lie on her back again, and she experienced depression and anxiety following the procedure.
