A 61-year-old pedicab driver admitted six burglaries at premises in Mayfair, Belgravia and the City of London. The thefts included dozens of bottles of high-value wine and cash taken from tills, with total losses around £31,000. CCTV showed the defendant loading stolen bottles into a wheelie bin and onto his pedicab. Police recovered some wine when he was arrested, and a total of 32 unopened bottles valued at about £6,687 have been returned so far. Sentencing imposed 20 months’ custody suspended for two years, with the judge noting remorse and ongoing recovery efforts.
