Water park had no clear warning of deep water
Briefly

Kyra Hill, an 11-year-old girl, drowned while swimming at Liquid Leisure water park in August 2022 due to insufficient warning signs regarding water depth. The park only had signs indicating shallow water, leading to confusion among visitors regarding the actual risks. During an inquest, coroner Heidi Connor highlighted the emotional burden on Kyra's family while assessing factors like the water's depth, which reached up to 4.5m. Following prior incidents, shallow water warnings were placed, but deeper areas remained unmarked, evidently misleading parents about safety.
"The water in parts of the park was metres deep but signs only warned it was shallow, an inquest was told."
"Senior coroner Heidi Connor said: 'This inquest is going to be very difficult, predominantly for Kyra's family, I'm very much aware of that.'"
