"Before the world knew her name, she was the teen girl in a pink top and shiny jeans embraced at her waist by the now disgraced Prince Andrew's arm. Behind them stood a smiling Ghislaine Maxwell, the longtime partner of the late Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein himself took the photo. Her name was Virginia Roberts Giuffre, one of the most public accusers of abuse by Epstein and the many powerful men Giuffre says she was trafficked to in the early 2000s."
"Epstein was convicted in 2008 in Florida on charges related to soliciting prostitution. His 2019 federal sex-trafficking charges were dismissed after his death by suicide while awaiting trial in New York. Maxwell was later convicted of crimes related to the sexual abuse of minors and is serving a 20-year sentence in Texas. Days before the publication of Giuffre's memoir, Nobody's Girl, Buckingham Palace released a statement from Prince Andrew."
Virginia Roberts Giuffre was photographed with Prince Andrew and Ghislaine Maxwell; Jeffrey Epstein took the photo. Giuffre became a public accuser, saying she was trafficked to Epstein and many powerful men in the early 2000s. Epstein was convicted in 2008 in Florida on charges related to soliciting prostitution; his 2019 federal sex-trafficking charges were dismissed after his suicide while awaiting trial. Ghislaine Maxwell was later convicted of crimes related to sexual abuse of minors and is serving a 20-year sentence. Giuffre said she first met Prince Andrew in 2001 and that he guessed she was 17. She described her father as "the original betrayer" and said abuse began around age seven. Giuffre reached a settlement with Epstein in 2009 and with Prince Andrew in 2022; she died by suicide in April at age 41.
