UK has recorded its sunniest spring on record

The Met Office announced that the UK has experienced its sunniest spring ever recorded, with 630 hours of sunshine from March 1 to May 27, 2025. This surpasses the previous record set in 2020 by four hours. Scotland and Northern Ireland have also reported their sunniest springs. Met Office Scientist Emily Carlisle highlighted that this trend shows increasing sunshine hours in recent years, with seven of the top ten sunniest springs since 1910 occurring post-2000. However, with unsettled weather remaining in the season, final statistics will be released soon.
The UK has now, provisionally, recorded its sunniest spring on record, with still a few days of the season to go.
Now, seven of the top ten sunniest springs on records for the UK since 1910, have occurred since the year 2000.
