Three Bulgarians found guilty of spying for Russia from UK base
Briefly

Three Bulgarian nationals were convicted by a London jury for engaging in extensive surveillance operations on behalf of Russian intelligence, primarily the GRU. Over three years, they tracked Kremlin opponents across several European countries, including journalists and Ukrainian soldiers, putting lives at risk. Their operations were reportedly coordinated by Jan Marsalek, a fugitive alleged Russian agent. The convicted individuals face significant prison time, highlighting the ongoing espionage activities linked to Russia in Europe and the serious threats posed by such intelligence operations.
A jury at London's Old Bailey court found Bulgarian nationals Katrin Ivanova, Vanya Gaberova, and Tihomir Ivanchev guilty of spying for Russia on an industrial scale.
The defendants engaged in a series of surveillance and intelligence operations over three years, under the direction of their ringleader, with connections to Russian intelligence.
Orlin Roussev received more than 200,000 euros to fund the spying activities and one of the alleged masterminds, Jan Marsalek, remains wanted by Interpol.
These operations targeted Kremlin opponents, including journalists, diplomats, and Ukrainian troops, placing lives in danger as they acted on behalf of Russian intelligence.
