Thousands impacted and more than a dozen schools shut after burst water main
"A pipe which supplies the reservoirs in the areas of OX7, OX18, OX28, OX29 and GL7 postcodes was found broken next to Oxford Road at Eynsham. The schools, as well as thousands of homes, have had no water or low pressure. Thames Water said the excavation of the broken pipe was complex due to the size of the pipe, its location within a field and excessive groundwater."
"Schools are closed, some are hanging on to the end of the day. That's incredibly disruptive to the kids and to the parents, having to drop work and go pick up kids."
A broken water pipe near Oxford Road in Eynsham supplies reservoirs across multiple Oxfordshire postcodes (OX7, OX18, OX28, OX29, and GL7). The damage has caused widespread disruption, forcing more than a dozen schools in Burford, Carterton, and Witney to close their doors. Thousands of homes have experienced no water or significantly reduced pressure. Thames Water identified the excavation as complex due to the pipe's size, its location within a field, and excessive groundwater. Bottled water stations have been established at Sainsbury's in Witney and Morrisons in Carterton to provide relief to affected residents.
