An 8ft, 13kg Christmas nutcracker soldier statue was stolen from outside a cocktail bar in Edinburgh, leaving the venue financially and emotionally affected ahead of the festive period. CCTV footage shows a masked, hooded person on an electric bike cycling up to the decoration and placing the large statue over their lap. The display had cost the venue thousands, with individual nutcrackers costing about £900 each and a £350 table broken during the incident. Police were informed after the theft at the corner of George Street and North Castle Street at 10.10pm on Monday. The stolen statue formed part of a pair; the second statue was moved indoors.
