"Everyone will know someone who has been through it," said Miatta Fahnbulleh, emphasizing the prevalence of domestic abuse and the need for awareness and intervention.
"It gets normalised. There is emotional coercion that goes alongside increasingly more physical and violent coercion," she noted, highlighting the insidious nature of domestic abuse.
"I hope that demystifies or debunks, certainly amongst women, that this is something that is the purview of a particular social class," she stated, calling for broader recognition and intervention.
