The government will require deepfake nudes and revenge porn to be removed from online platforms within 48 hours of being flagged. Companies that fail to act could face fines up to 10% of qualifying worldwide revenue or have their services blocked in the UK. Ofcom is expected to receive enforcement powers and victims will be able to flag content directly to platforms or to Ofcom, which would trigger cross-platform alerts. Amendments will regulate AI chatbots after instances of non-consensual sexual images were generated. The policy aims to shift the burden of redress from victims to perpetrators and platforms.
