Syria announces end of military operation against al-Assad loyalists
Briefly

The Syrian Defence Ministry has announced the conclusion of a military operation in the coastal regions of Latakia and Tartous, loyal to the former Assad regime. Spokesperson Hassan Abdul Ghani stated that security threats in these provinces have been effectively neutralised. However, reports indicate almost 1,500 individuals were killed, largely civilians, amid escalating violence. President Ahmed al-Sharaa of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham has vowed to investigate the violent clashes and hold those responsible accountable, promising cooperation in uncovering the truth behind the recent events.
"Having achieved [the neutralisation of the security threats] we announce the end of the military operation. We were able to absorb the attacks of the remnants of the toppled regime and its officers."
"Nearly 1,500 people had been killed in the violence since Thursday, with the majority being civilians killed by security forces and allied groups in the heartland of the Alawite minority."
