Stunning video from the sky shows New Year fireworks going off across London
"Shot from a NPAS aircraft, the video shows a staggering number of fireworks displays, making the London skyline resemble the flashes of cameras going off across the city. Countless displays can be seen going off all the way across the city, as far as the eye can see, as Londoners rang in the new year in style. Several recognisable London landmarks can even be spotted as the fireworks go off, including Tower Bridge, the Shard, and Big Ben."
"I'm delighted that we have once again shown why London's New Year's Eve celebrations are the greatest in the world. The eyes of the globe were looking on as we lit up our famous skyline with our best-ever display of fireworks and lighting, all to an incredible soundtrack. From celebrating our wonderful year of women's sport and Europe beating the USA in the Ryder Cup, to celebrating our diversity"
NPAS aircraft captured aerial footage of fireworks exploding across London as the clock struck midnight, creating a panoramic display visible citywide. Countless individual displays illuminated the skyline and highlighted landmarks such as Tower Bridge, the Shard, Big Ben and the London Eye. Approximately 100,000 people watched the event from ticketed areas near the River Thames, while millions more viewed it on television worldwide. Organisers ignited more than 12,000 fireworks and deployed 400 lights, making it the largest annual firework display in Europe. The mayor praised the spectacle as a celebration of sporting successes, diversity and a hopeful outlook toward 2026.
