"The station, which is served by Thameslink trains, is built on an embankment, with stairs from street level to a small ticket office, a corridor under the railway, and stairs up to the platforms. Today, it's a four-platform station, although only two platforms are in regular use, and it also has one of the grimmest entrances of any station in London, as it sits underneath the M1 Motorway that was built next to the railway in the 1960s."
"However, thanks to the M1 motorway sitting right next to the railway, there's not much space to squeeze the main entrance lift into, and in 2024, the Transport Minister, Huw Merriman said "There are many technical issues to overcome at this station, given it is located on the Midland Main Line and adjacent to the M1 motorway, all of which are currently under consideration.""
Mill Hill Broadway station sits on an embankment with stairs from street level to a small ticket office, a corridor under the railway, and stairs up to the platforms. The station has four platforms, though only two are regularly used, and its entrance sits beneath the M1 motorway built alongside the railway in the 1960s. The nearby Edgware to Mill Hill East railway was expected to become a Northern line extension but plans were cancelled after WWII and the route is now mostly a footpath. The station was added to the Department for Transport's Access for All programme in 2019. Outline design work will start next summer despite the technical issues caused by the adjacent M1.
