Southeastern rufurbishing its 20-year old Class 376 trains
"The multi-million programme will cover all 36 five-car units in the fleet, delivering around 11,000 newly refurbished seats, more than 4,000 power and USB sockets, and the replacement or overhaul of some 29,000 interior components, including wall and ceiling panels, grab poles, trims and cappings. The latter, often overlooked, are the edge-covers designed to protect the train's interior from day-to-day wear, luggage knocks and general passenger use."
"The upgrade also includes refreshed LED lighting, improved flooring, new seat fabrics, updated colour schemes and a deep internal clean to bring the stripped-out saloons back to near-as-new condition. This renewal forms part of Southeastern's wider fleet improvement plan, which includes the £27 million refurbishment of the Class 395 'Javelin' high-speed trains, the introduction of 13 cascaded Class 377 Electrostars to strengthen suburban services, and the early stages of buying an accessible Metro fleet to replace the oldest stock still in operation."
Southeastern has begun a full mid-life refresh of its 20-year-old Class 376 suburban trains, with unit 376027 returning to passenger service. The programme will refurbish all 36 five-car units, installing about 11,000 seats, over 4,000 power and USB sockets, and replacing or overhauling some 29,000 interior components including wall and ceiling panels, grab poles, trims and cappings. Upgrades include refreshed LED lighting, improved flooring, new seat fabrics, updated colour schemes and deep internal cleaning. Overhauls are carried out at Grove Park depot with Alstom providing engineering and materials. Completion is due by 2027.
