Six men and a 17-year-old boy were sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of 21-year-old drug dealer Janayo Lucima after a conviction at the Old Bailey on 16 July. Lucima was killed by a single bullet to the chest as he opened his front door in Kensington last year. The shooting was linked to a drugs dispute and was described in court as a "planned and organised execution" after 22-year-old Khuder Al Kurdi lured him from his Barons Court home while gunman Mohamed Mansaray lay in wait. Sentences for the convicted defendants range from minimum terms of 22 to 33 years. A jury failed to reach verdicts on two other defendants and a retrial is scheduled for 2026.
