Two men were stabbed at Oxford Circus tube station, with a 23-year-old attacked at 03:40 on 30 August and a 41-year-old taken to hospital after police were called just after 01:30 on 31 August. British Transport Police have launched an urgent investigation, increased patrols at the station and released an image of a man who may have information. No arrests have been made and it is unclear whether the attacks are linked. Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to contact police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 49 of 31 August.
There is absolutely no place for violence on the rail network, and detectives are working at pace to investigate these two connected incidents. Passengers will see an increased police presence at the station while officers carry out their enquiries.
