Passengers shell-shocked after crab pinches seat
""Some people were quite concerned because I was walking around the station with a crab in my hand, but most people didn't bat an eyelid,""
""I could not delay the train indefinitely while I played international rescue for a crab,""
""They must have just thought another day in Pompey.""
Passengers on a South Western Railway service from London to Portsmouth discovered a crab sitting in a first-class seat on Wednesday evening. The crustacean was later nicknamed Craig and prompted jokes from fellow travelers about a night out in the city. Train driver Mark Walsh initially thought a colleague was "winding him up" but found the crab "chilling" on a seat at the final stop. Walsh described giving the creature "a little stroke" and noted it appeared exhausted. He avoided delaying the service and placed the crab in a comfortable spot in a nearby park with a pond.
