Nathan Bennett, 30, was convicted of eight charges including rape, sexual assault and assault by penetration involving five children aged two or three. He had previously admitted 13 other charges relating to four of the victims. Concerns were raised by parents and staff after behaviours were observed in February, and CCTV showed Bennett putting his hands down a child’s trousers. Bennett was sent home, arrested, and the nursery closed. Staff noted worrying behaviours including prolonged lapsitting, damaged trousers, and perceived territoriality over certain toddlers. Video interviews with two child victims and witness testimony contributed to the convictions.
