Nursery paedophile's heinous' offending went undetected for 13 years

At the time that he should have been nurturing and looking after those children, he committed the most vile offending."

Vincent Chan, 45, worked in IT support and as a teaching assistant at a Finchley primary school from 2007 to 2017 and at a nursery from 2017 to 2024. He secretly filmed pupils, filmed himself performing a solo sex act in a classroom, and positioned cameras to record women changing or using the toilet in and around his home. He filmed and sexually abused four young children at the nursery and sexually assaulted a woman while she was asleep. He developed an obsession with one girl whom he repeatedly filmed. His offending went undetected for thirteen years and only came to light after he showed a nursery colleague a video of crying, distressed children; that colleague reported him to management, who involved the local council and police.
