Noel Clarke is facing serious sexual misconduct allegations and his legal strategy is to deflect blame onto his accusers. During cross-examination in his libel case against the Guardian, he claimed that some of his accusers engaged in flirtatious behavior and were promiscuous. Clarke's lawyer accused him of seeking moral equivalence between his alleged actions and the behavior of women he claimed were involved in sexual banter. He defended his reputation by suggesting that society is overly punitive towards men who make minor mistakes in a politically charged climate.
"In this world we're in right now, if a man makes a remote misstep, he is done," argued Clarke during the high court proceedings.
"This is your strategy: I might be bad but the woman is just as bad,' Millar stated, emphasizing Clarke's response to the accusations.
