A former Metropolitan Police officer was found to have committed gross misconduct at Charing Cross police station but received no penalty because dismissal was the only available sanction for a serving officer. The former officer was not placed on the barred list that would prevent rejoining the police. PCs Sean Park, Jason Sinclair-Birt, Martin Borg, Philip Neilson, and Sergeants Lawrence Hume, Clayton Robinson and Joe McIlvenny were dismissed without notice after separate hearings concluded gross misconduct. Cdr Simon Messinger said the actions damaged public trust, promised work at pace to address cultural issues, and said removing unsuitable officers will enable others to thrive while protecting London.
