More strikes due at school that became academy
Briefly

Teachers and staff at South Kenton Primary Academy, formerly Byron Court Primary School, have voted overwhelmingly to strike over deteriorating working conditions post-academisation. Following its forced academisation by the Department for Education, the school reopened under the Harris Federation but has faced ongoing disputes regarding workload, pay, and support staff needs. The National Education Union (NEU) has reported that although some issues have been resolved, many remain. Union officials emphasize the necessity of staff well-being for effective teaching, while a recent ballot of other schools in the federation showed significant support for strike action due to broader criticisms of management and treatment of staff.
Union members at the school went on strike last May when the academisation plan was announced.
Harris Federation needs to be serious about supporting its staff; children cannot be taught well without happy staff.
...we will not need to take strike action, which is always a last resort.
...the union said was 'excessive and unhealthy levels of workload, an unfair and punitive pay progression system.'
