PC Aaron Goodman, a Metropolitan Police officer training for the MO19 Trojan armed response unit, dated a fellow policewoman for eight months. He restricted her phone calls and social media, controlled her finances, accused her of infidelity, tracked her movements and pointed weapons at her, causing her to feel threatened. Goodman fabricated a story about leaving the UK to join the French Foreign Legion. Kent Police arrested him and uncovered a training Taser, imitation pistols, a fake rifle, Met handcuffs, a training baton, a hunting knife, force helmets and counterfeit firearms officer badges. A misconduct panel found the behaviour intentional, abusive and controlling.

But he restricted her phone calls and social media chats with friends, family and male colleagues then took control of her finances.
He also accused her of cheating and tracked her movements. In December 2023, Goodman lied about leaving the UK to join the French Foreign Legion fighting in Ukraine and Mali. Kent Police arrested Goodman on September 21 last year. Searches of his home and car uncovered a training Taser, three imitation pistols and a fake rifle. He also had in his possession Met handcuffs, a training baton, a small hunting knife, force helmets and counterfeit Counter-Terrorism Special Firearms Officer badges.
