Met Police detective sacked over use of sex workers and class A drugs on trips abroad
"Police play a vital role in protecting individuals who are at heightened risk of violence and exploitation, and any deviation from that duty represents a serious breach of public trust."
"DC Malik would have been fully aware that he was acting in clear violation of his obligations to safeguard the public, as well as the strict rules governing drug use."
"His conduct was wholly unacceptable and fell significantly short of the standards expected by the organisation and the public."
Detective Constable Pervaz Malik was dismissed from the Metropolitan Police after engaging with sex workers and using Class A drugs from 2016 to August 2023. He organized sex workers for himself and others, and assisted in purchasing drugs. During a criminal investigation in February 2024, he refused to provide access to his mobile phone. A disciplinary panel found him guilty of gross misconduct. Malik was arrested in August 2023 on drug conspiracy charges, but the case was closed without action. He will be barred from future police employment.
