Met Police detective sacked for hiring sex workers and using drugs on overseas trips
"Detective Chief Superintendent Chrissy Jessah stated that police play a vital role in protecting individuals at risk, and any deviation from that duty represents a serious breach of public trust."
"Malik's conduct was wholly unacceptable and fell significantly short of the standards expected by the organization and the public."
"The action against Malik was part of the force's drive to raise standards and root out officers who have no place in policing."
Detective Constable Pervaz Malik was dismissed from the Metropolitan Police after being found guilty of gross misconduct. He organized sex workers and used Class A drugs from 2016 to August 2023. Malik refused to provide his mobile phone access code during a criminal investigation in February 2024. His actions were condemned by Detective Chief Superintendent Chrissy Jessah, who emphasized the breach of public trust. Malik was arrested at Stansted Airport on suspicion of conspiracy to supply controlled drugs, but the case was closed by the Crown Prosecution Service. He will be added to the barred list.
