Duncan Bouette, formerly assigned to the North East Command Unit, was arrested by the Met's Central Specialist Crime Unit on 7 October after information was received about messages he sent. He pleaded guilty to two charges under the Obscene Publications Act. On 6 November at Westminster Magistrates' Court he received an 18-month suspended sentence and 200 hours of community service. A three-year criminal behaviour order prohibits unsupervised contact with children and restricts his use of digital devices. An accelerated misconduct hearing led to his dismissal from the Metropolitan Police on 4 November. He will be added to the College of Policing Barred List, preventing future police service.
