Marten a victim of class prejudice' in trial over death baby with Gordon, court told

The newborn's death was no crime but a tragic accident as Marten fell asleep holding the infant, claimed defense lawyer Francis Fitzgibbon KC.

Fitzgibbon dismissed prosecution's claims of carrying the baby in a Lidl bag as a smear, calling references to Marten's background a distraction fueled by class prejudice.
