Man impales EYE after falling face-first on to ornament
Briefly

A 39-year-old man from Coventry suffered a severe eye injury after a drunken fall onto a sharp eagle statuette at home. The figurine penetrated his eye socket, narrowly avoiding his brain. He was conscious and transported to the hospital, where a CT scan revealed the wing had breached the eye's orbit and reached the sinus cavity. After surgery, it was confirmed he suffered from a blood hemorrhage in the eye, losing some vision. Doctors noted he was fortunate not to have more severe complications, such as permanent blindness or brain damage.
Following the surgery, scans revealed he had damage to his eye but nothing further. His right eye's vision was affected, with a visual acuity of 6/60.
