Omar Makhluf, 20, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drugs after an incident on the M1 motorway on 16 February 2025. He hit the central reservation between junctions 12 and 14, losing a wheel, but continued driving for several miles before stopping at a service station. Motorway cameras captured the incident at approximately 3:30pm. Makhluf was arrested the same day and charged in August 2025. He received a 22-month prison sentence and a four-year, 336-day driving disqualification. No injuries resulted from the incident. Police emphasized that the situation could have caused serious harm and urged drivers to pull over safely and alert authorities if vehicle damage occurs on motorways.
