Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union members began industrial action on Sunday, with the full impact hitting Monday as commuters sought alternative travel. The strike centers on pay and conditions, including a demand for a 32-hour working week that Transport for London (TfL) says is unaffordable. DLR services will be fully suspended on Tuesday and Thursday as separate action. Buses and roads saw heavy congestion, with TfL reporting a 12% rise in bus card use by 13:00 BST and a 31% increase on London Overground and the Elizabeth line. E-bike and cycle-hire usage rose sharply. TfL has offered a 3.4% pay increase and officials urged renewed talks.
