The assessment used measures including noise complaints, artificial light exposure, vacant homes, sewage works and greenhouse gas emissions across local authorities. Bromley recorded just four noise complaints per 1,000 people over the past year and only 2.7% of its land registers at the brightest level of artificial night-time light. There are no sewage works per square kilometre in Bromley, and greenhouse gas emissions are low at about 6.0 kt CO2e per km. The borough’s environment resembles a rural commuter belt more than an urban borough.
